WaterBuild was developed to continue the conversation on water with the goal of producing valuable material to support the work already underway.

This day-long water Summit held at Greenbuild 2016 included:
  • A remarkable opening keynote from author, educator and researcher Dr. Michael Webber about the constraints and opportunities presented by water and energy, and how buildings, infrastructure, policy, and innovation can help.
  • Three compelling morning education sessions and engaging afternoon activities for CE hours.
  • A lunch address on California water policy from Assemblyman Mike Gatto.
  • Eight lively, “Pecha Kucha” format presentations, illuminating thoughtful approaches to comprehensive, holistic water management and policy.  PechaKucha 20x20 is a presentation format where speakers show 20 images, each for 20 seconds each (invented by architects in Tokyo). It’s a fun and quick way to deliver information.
  • An optional afternoon workshop with Los Angeles County designed to brainstorm approaches to reducing water consumption in preparation for their newly-adopted goal of “net zero water.”
Stay tuned for updates for 2017 summit updates and announcements in late spring of 2017.
